Focusing on being and noticing the Holy Spirit

My Lenten discipline for the next 40 days will focus on the practices that connect me back once again to being in the presence of the Holy Spirit in that moment. It is not about discovering God's plan for me. It is not dwelling in the past or living for the future. These practices will help me be; to sit with God and to know that is enough.

Wondrous Encounters: Scripture for Lent by Richard Rohr (a Franciscan priest) weaves the musings of mystical transcendent thought with real life experience. Each day includes a scripture passage, a reflection on that passage by Rohr and a prayer starter.

The rosary is a physical reminder of prayer in these 40 days. My rosary is from the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, Wisconsin. I love the physical sensation of holding something so beautiful in my hands while I pray.

Each week I will use an image from Wondrous Encounters to inspire some art. I will share these creative works on my blog as the season of Lent progresses.

Finally, I will keep in mind this verse from Isaiah:
I am about to do a new thing;
    now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
    and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:19
